At Somali Youth Open Organization, we are driven by our mission to empower, educate, and equip Somali youth with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. Our core programs and initiatives include:
Education
Supporting the education of neglected youth in Somalia.
Promoting girl child education and eliminating cultural barriers to women’s education.
Enhancing literacy and providing resources to ensure young people have access to quality learning opportunities.
Advocating for the eradication of illiteracy, especially in underserved communities.
Youth Rights
Advocating for equal access to rights and opportunities, regardless of age, gender, race, or ability.
Promoting youth participation in democratic governance and decision-making processes.
Raising awareness about the prevention of harmful practices such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and addressing HIV/AIDS.
Health and Well-being
Promoting youth health and addressing non-communicable diseases, mental health, and environmental health challenges.
Providing support to sick youth, especially those affected by brain damage or other chronic illnesses.
Planning to establish outpatient clinics to ensure youth receive necessary medical care.
Sports and Community Engagement
Organizing sports tournaments and events that foster teamwork, leadership, and personal development.
Partnering with over 30 community-based organizations to deliver safe and positive sports experiences for youth.
Educating parents and volunteers on the importance of sports in youth development.
Advocacy and Empowerment
Supporting women and young people in income generation and resettlement activities for displaced persons.
Providing home-based care for orphans and children from poor families.
Promoting peacebuilding, reconciliation, and democratic governance in communities.
